Update-Photos: Haunted Mansion
It was a dark and stormy night and the steak was the right amount of bloody.
How did we prepare such tender and delicious octopi?
Chef Nikki Stanger sauteed the brined squigglies in olive oil and garlic, with a lemon juice finish.
Thanks to members of Pillars and Tongues for providing sounds.
We were at the historic Keith Mansion, now home to the Prairie Avenue Gallery. The current show features local artists: Elizabeth Buchanan, Yvetter Kaiser Smith, Karen Wohlberg, Elke Klaus, Sharon Vitali, and Duk Ju L. Kim. Stop by on Saturday November 14th for the Closing of the show. I’ll be serving up some delicious bites, Clandestino style.
Below is the menu from our Halloween dinner. The soup was made with apples, celery root, butter, leeks, garlic, celery, carrots, parsley, Japanese soy sauce, mirin, and ground coriander seed. Combine everything in stock pot, water to cover, simmer for hours, puree, then season to taste.
- Eggplant Chips w/ Roasted Garlic Chevre
- Octopus Salad w/ dinosaur kale and chickpeas, black bean paint
- Apple and Celery Root Soup
- Cornmeal crusted Hangar Steak w/ Sunchokes and Crimini Mushrooms
- Spiced Chocolate Cake w/ Cinnamon Ice Cream and Pumpkin Seed Brittle
- Hot Mulled Cider
