Update Photos: Lincoln Garden Dinner
We dined like Presidents!
Our dinner spot this time was The Convent, a hidden gem just minutes from the Willis Tower. Thanks again to the Northside Southpaws for stopping by and playing some tunes.
We featured recipes from the famed White House cookbook as well as traditional recipes of the time for an old school meets new school feast. We were celebrating Abe Lincoln’s Bicentennial Birthday. Yes I know it was in February but you can’t cook outside in February! We also had a few birthdays in the crowd that night. Thanks for celebrating your birthdays with us!
We found some great local produce from the prairie state for this meal…
- Scrapple and johnny cakes w/ cape gooseberry jam
- String bean and potato salad
- Corn Soup w/ zucchini yeast bread and sage butter
- Grilled duck rolled roast w/ pork sausage, wheat berries and wild rice, braised collard green
- Jersey Mac apple and caramel trifle
